ProTools 101

DevStudios is offering Pro Tools 101 courses. The course focuses on the foundational skills needed to learn and function within the Pro Tools environment at a basic level. The goal of this course is to help individuals start working on their own projects in Pro Tools.

Topics include:
1. System capabilities (Record, Edit, Mix, Process, and Deliver Audio)
2. Hard disk basics
3. Understanding the Pro Tools file system (Session documents, Audio Files, Audio Regions)
3. Navigation and Display basics
4. Recording modes and techniques, including setting levels Selection techniques for audio regions (precursor to basic editing)
5. Basic editing skills
6. Importing and managing audio files
7. Loop recording and comping takes
8. Using fades
9. Basic mixing examples
10. Using AudioSuite (file-based) plug-ins
11. Working with a click Introduction to MIDI within the Pro Tools application

The Prerequisites for this course require that you have basic computer skills, some audio recording knowledge, and some Pro Tools familiarity (via Pro Tools FREE software or similar).

The duration of the course is 16 hours and will cost $675 PLUS GST. This covers the cost of the course as well as required course materials and certification examination.

Course will be offered: June 14 & 15 , 2008, 8:30 am- 5pm.

Introduction to Apple's GarageBand

GarageBand is an Apple Macintosh software application that allows users to quickly and easily create music, original recordings, PodCasts or video soundtracks. It is included on all new Macintosh computers as a component of iLife, a suite of applications designed by Apple to simplify the creation and organization of users' digital content. GarageBand is equally useful for both amateur and professional musicians or anyone interested in creating audio content for digital media.The course will cover the following:

GarageBand Interface
Creating a first song using the loop browser
Recording in GarageBand
Advanced song functions: Key Changes/Transposition/ Automation
Audio and MIDI editing
Introduction to PodCasting
Introduction to Post-Production for video using GarageBand
Course review

The total number of hours for the course is 7.5 hours and will cost $145.

Photoshop CS3


Do you have hundreds of photographs sitting on your computer and they just don't look right?

Would you like to make those photographs pop? Clean up that red eye? Colorize that old black and white photograph?

This course will introduce and expand on Photoshop CS2 and will give the student a working knowledge of manipulating digital imagery. This course is ideal for anyone that has interest in photography and has an artistic eye.Outline of Topics:

Maya: An In-depth Primer

DevStudios is offering an In-Depth Maya courses.

This course will introduce and expand on 3D modeling and animation techniques as an in-depth study of practices specific to Maya. This course is an ideal as an introduction to 3D, as well as a complete approach to transfer additional 3D application skills to Maya.
